The fourth annual Spring Outdoors, held March 20 to June 21, 2019, is shaping up to be a special time in The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. The Spring Outdoors Calendar is now available online at thelastgreenvalley.org/explore-the-last-green-valley/spring-outdoors. The calendar is updated throughout the season and is already packed with amazing, hikes, bikes, paddles and more!
The Last Green Valley’s Chief Ranger Bill Reid kicks off Spring Outdoors March 20 with a 4-mile hike to Breakneck Pond, Union, CT. Reid has a few surprises in store for this hike, which is free for TLGV members and their guests. Registration is required. Please contact TLGV at 860-774-3300 for more information on the kick-off hike.
The hike is one of several adventures happening that day as we ease into spring.
Spring Outdoors began in 2016 to celebrate nature’s return from its winter slumber in The Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. In just its first two years, Spring Outdoors, which is a program of TLGV, bloomed into an event featuring more than 250 adventures attended by about 18,000 people.
“Even with the unpredictable weather of spring, Spring Outdoors is growing every year thanks to our collaborations with our partners,” said Lois Bruinooge, executive director of TLGV. “Together we’re putting a spotlight on this special place.”
The Spring Outdoors calendar grows as the season goes. Applications to host a Spring Outdoors Adventure are still available. Visit http://thelastgreenvalley.org/explore-the-last-green-valley/spring-outdoors/ or email email@example.com to learn more. Hosts must either be members or partners of The Last Green Valley.
