Labor Matters Newsletter – December 2017

Commissioner’s Message

As chair of the CT Retirement Security Authority, I’ve had the opportunity to work with the Authority in developing a retirement savings plan for private sector employers that do not have one for their employees. Certainly this can help our state’s workforce better prepare for the future, but the task is complex, so the January 1, 2018 the implementation date has been deferred. Regrettably, misinformation is causing employers to think they must purchase retirement savings products by January. While I hope this message helps get out the word, at the same time, the process has been an interesting journey. I invite you to visit CRSA’s New Webpage to follow our progress.

“I want to tell you how very glad I am to have been invited to attend today’s Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment meeting. It was very informative. I was impressed with all the services/training the Connecticut Department Labor and the American Job Center have to offer an unemployed individual. You also listened to
my situation and gave some helpful advice. Keep up the great service! You have
an exceptional team.
