The Chamber of Commerce is committed to building and sustaining viable partnerships with federal, state and local governmental entities in order to continue to grow a vibrant regional economy with an excellent quality of life.

Support legislative initiatives that improve predictability of business costs, that reduce business taxes and administrative burdens and that recognize the needs of the local business community and the particular requirements of our small business economic base including government contractors and subcontractors.

Support legislative initiatives for job creation incentives, environmental stewardship and sustainable growth. (Cooperation is needed in development of a plan to slow growth in government employment expenses)

Support legislative initiatives that better prepare a diverse future workforce that draws on the educational institution resources of Northeast Connecticut including technical high schools, Quinebaug Valley Community College, Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut. (Concern is given for retention and attraction of young workers and professionals in our region including affordable housing initiatives)

Support legislative initiatives that improve transportation within the region linking education, job training and employment sites, along with our unique “Quiet Corner” tourism attractions.

Support public & private sector partnership legislative initiatives that promote flexible, affordable, accessible health care throughout eastern Connecticut—focusing on preventative/wellness health care efforts combined with adequate state & federal government reimbursements to health providers.

Support public & private sector partnerships that encourage modernization of rail service for freight to and from our region and enabling us to be competitive with other regions of the U.S.

Our Chamber has joined many others in the state to promote the CT 20×17 campaign.  This campaign’s goal is to make CT one of the top 20 states to do business in by the year 2017.
